hi mom im on!! its been a pretty crazy week. very tough at times but
very good at times too. the language is soooo hard and the people talk
so fast. my companion is elder lima da silva. he is awesome and a good
missionary but speaks pretty much no english. we can communicate but
only when he talks slow. that has easily been the hardest part. no one
speaks english here and out of 18 new missionaries i came in with only
3 were american. it was way hard. i was super stressed out about the
language. and ive heard it actually takes longer than most people say
so i try not to worry about it much. but yeah there has been a ton of
just not understanding this week. it really sucks. but other than that
i have been pretty good. the food here is pretty good honestly, just
rice beans and lots of meat. they have stores on every corner with
snacks which is awesome. usually not like filling snacks but i tried
to get more stuff like that when we went grocery shopping today. the
people are amazing. they are so humble and welcoming to our message.
we have taught a few lessons and they have gone well. i dont
particiapte much haha. i can usually talk about most stuff its just
the understanding them that is way hard. but yeah my area is frequesia
do รณ and also we work in brasilandia. people are very poor here.
probably not as poor as guatemala but still the houses are just tiny.
most people have a tv and phone but nothing nice. houses are usually a
tiny kitchen with a tv a couch, and then a bedroom or two. there are
lots of favelas too which are the really poor areas with houses just
stacked on eachother. i am living in an apartment complex right now in
another area. the house in our area doesnt have electricity right now
so we are staying with other elders. it is fun to stay with other
elders and one of them speaks enough english to get by. but its super
tight and we sleep in the main living area cause there is pretty much
only one other room where they already sleep. we also only have 1
bathroom which is hard at ltimes. i have been inside the house we are
supposed to be at and its ok. it is bigger which is nice but its just
kinda trashed. it will take us a while once we move in just to clean
everything up. we might move in in like 2 or 3 weeks which stinks.
anyway i will answer more questions later but i wanted to let you know
i was on. i love you so much! its definitely been a hard week at
times, but i see the light in the tunnel. once im more comfortable
with the country and the language and the people i think i will love
it.
